Intensive Russian Assaults Cut Power Across Ukraine's Capital

Power facilities under attack in the region
Ukraine's power facilities have faced increased strikes in the past few days

During the night, Russian missile and drone strikes have caused blackouts in large parts of the capital city, the Ukrainian capital.

A number of civilians were injured while residents in eastern districts were left without electricity and encountered problems to water supplies, per reports from city officials.

At the same time, a seven-year-old child was lost their life in a separate aerial attack in the Zaporizhzhia area in the southeastern part, as reported by area administrators.

Moscow has increased attacks on electrical systems over the past few days, while the country's government has demanded "real steps" from international partners to increase pressure on Moscow.

"The necessity is not symbolic gestures but decisive action - from the US, European nations and the Group of Seven - in supplying defensive weapons and implementing restrictions," he wrote in a public message.

Authorities reported that 450 drones and over thirty rockets attacked the country's power systems, describing such attacks as "strategic and deliberate" and against "critical infrastructure" as winter approaches.

The energy minister said Moscow was "launching a major assault" and technical staff were striving to repair systems.

A wave of strikes struck electrical systems and civilian homes in Kyiv.

Multiple people wounded in the attacks on the city have been taken to hospital, as confirmed by local officials.

Area administrators said the urban area endured intense attacks overnight. A young boy died and multiple civilians were hurt.

The attacks succeed evenings of bombing campaigns in the territory, sections of which remain under the control of invading troops.

The whole nation is under warning for sophisticated projectile assaults, which are tougher to detect.

National leaders told reporters that Moscow was deliberately attempting to demolish the country's energy grid, with strikes already impacting energy systems.

He said technical personnel and government agencies were bracing for additional strikes.
