Diane Ladd, Famed For Her Performance in Alice Doesn’t Live Here Anymore, Dies at 89 Years Old.
The award-nominated actor the celebrated Diane Ladd passed away aged 89.
This actor, with credits spanned Alice Doesn’t Live Here Anymore, left this world in her residence in California’s Ojai. Her passing was announced via an announcement from her offspring, Academy Award-winning star her daughter Laura Dern.
Her daughter, who performed alongside her mom in various films like Wild at Heart, called her “my incredible hero and my profound gift being my mom”, writing that she was present when she passed.
“She was an exceptional daughter, mother, grandmother, performer, creative as well as compassionate soul that seemed almost dreamlike,” she wrote. “We were fortunate to know her. She is flying with her angels now.”
Early Career and Rise to Fame
The start of her career featured minor parts on television series like Perry Mason whereas the seventies featured her performing alongside Jack Nicholson in Chinatown.
In the same year, 1974, she appeared alongside Ellen Burstyn in Martin Scorsese’s praised film the movie Alice Doesn’t Live Here Anymore. Her role brought Ladd her first Oscar nomination as best supporting actress.
1980s and Beyond
During the eighties, she appeared in crime thriller Black Widow, a suspense story as well as funny follow-up National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation and also took part in the sitcom Alice, a comedy program inspired by Alice Doesn’t Live Here Anymore.
