American-Palestinian Youth Freed After Nine Months in Israel's Detention

An American-Palestinian adolescent having endured a nine-month period in Israeli detention without being charged has been freed.

The teenager Mohammed Ibrahim was fifteen years old during his detention last February in the Israeli-occupied West Bank, during a family visit on holiday from Florida for allegedly throwing stones toward Israeli settlers, which he previously denied.

United States authorities expressed satisfaction with Mohammed's liberation.

Currently aged sixteen, required hospitalization right after being freed, according to close relatives.

According to them, he appears pale, underweight, and is suffering from conditions contracted in captivity.

Via family representatives, family spokesperson expressed the family's "tremendous relief".

The uncle, Zeyad Kadur described how relatives endured "enduring a dreadful, continuous nightmare" throughout the past nine months.

"Right now, we are focused on ensuring Mohammed receives urgent medical care necessary for his recovery after being subjected to harsh conditions and brutal treatment throughout his detention."

American authorities stated they would maintain to offer diplomatic assistance to Mohammed's family.

{"The Trump Administration has no higher priority to ensuring the safety of US citizens"," officials stated.

A group of American legislators had signed a letter to the state department and the White House, urging greater action for his freedom.

Mohammed's parent, a father-of-four operating an ice cream shop based in Tampa, previously said his child admitted guilt to throwing stones after being assaulted by soldiers.

The father hadn't visited nor direct contact since the arrest, learning information solely about his son's condition via legal paperwork.

He stayed lacking indictment within Ofer penitentiary throughout the occupied territory.

The facility also contains adult prisoners, some of whom have been convicted regarding severe security violations and homicide.

Approximately 350 Palestinian minors in security custody currently imprisoned in Israel, based on prison authority data.

Many have never been charged while advocacy organizations, as well as the United Nations, document cases involving abuse and torture.

After the teenager's freedom, family representatives announced relatives would persist in advocating for justice for his cousin family member Sayfollah.

The 20-year-old dual US citizen according to health authorities succumbed to assault by radical settlers following tensions last July.

At the time, the Israeli military said they were examining reports a Palestinian civilian had died.

The two cousins were employed together at their family's ice cream business based in Florida.

No charges have been filed for the cousin's murder.

"We demand the American government to protect our families," Mr Kadur said.
